Where they are

Fort Myers spreads along its roads instead of around a centre, and the dispensaries follow. South Cleveland Avenue carries the heaviest concentration, running down through the middle of the city as US-41. Daniels Parkway and Colonial Boulevard pick up the eastern side towards the airport, and McGregor Boulevard runs southwest towards the river.

Two of the addresses on this page are not in Fort Myers proper. North Fort Myers sits across the Caloosahatchee on Bayshore Road, and Fort Myers Beach is out on Estero Island. Both are close enough to be the nearest option for a good part of the city, so they are listed here under their own place names, not folded into the city's.

How this list was built, and how far to trust it

The list of locations comes from the Florida Department of Health's own register of approved dispensing sites, not from a directory. That matters more than it sounds: a search for dispensaries here returns hemp and CBD shops alongside licensed dispensaries, and they are not the same thing. Nothing on this page is a licensed dispensary unless the state says it is.

Hours are a separate question and a weaker one. Most were read from the dispensary's own website. Where that was not possible the listing says the hours are unknown instead of guessing, because an opening time is the one thing here that someone acts on by getting in a car.

• Several chains publish the same hours at every Florida store, so a single location's page may be repeating a company-wide default
• Holiday hours change and are not reflected here

What to bring

Your Florida medical marijuana card and a matching photo ID, every visit. First visits usually take longer while the dispensary sets up your patient record against the state registry.

• Menus and stock vary considerably between brands on the same day
• Hours change, particularly around holidays, so confirm before a long drive
