Four Corridors, No Centre
Fort Myers spreads along its roads instead of around a downtown. South Cleveland Avenue carries the heaviest concentration as it runs through as US-41; Daniels Parkway and Colonial Boulevard cover the eastern side towards the airport; McGregor Boulevard runs southwest.

Step by Step
How to Get Your Florida Medical Marijuana Card
Four steps, and the first one is the one people get wrong. Lee County has more certifying physicians than most of the state, so the appointment is usually the easy part here.
See a qualified physician in person
Florida requires the first certification to be a physical examination, face to face. Telehealth covers later renewals with the same physician and never the first appointment. That is why the national "get your card online" services cannot serve a first-time Florida patient.
Get certified for a qualifying condition
The physician decides whether you qualify and enters the certification into the state registry. Nobody else can make that judgement, and no quiz (including ours) can tell you that you qualify.
Apply to the state registry
Once the physician has entered your certification, you apply to the Office of Medical Marijuana Use for the card itself and pay the state fee. The application goes to the state; the clinic has no part in it.
Buy at any licensed dispensary
Your card works at every licensed dispensary in Florida, including ones nowhere near you. Bring the card and a matching photo ID every visit.

Frequently Asked Questions
No. Florida is medical-only in 2026, and nothing about that is local, because a city cannot legalise it. The Smart & Safe Florida initiative did not make the November 2026 ballot, falling short of the 880,062 valid signatures required after courts invalidated roughly 70,000 petitions. The previous attempt, Amendment 3 in 2024, drew 56% of the vote where Florida requires 60% to amend its constitution. No further measure has qualified and the legislative route also failed this year.
Whichever is closer. There is no legal or practical difference. Both cities are in Lee County, both are covered by the same state rules, and several of the same brands run stores in each. Your card works at any licensed dispensary in Florida, and your supply limits are counted statewide rather than per store, so nothing is gained or lost by crossing the bridge. Prices and menus vary by brand and by day rather than by city.
Your Florida medical marijuana card and a photo ID in the same name, every visit, including for a delivery at the door. Nothing else is required. A first visit takes longer because the dispensary has to set up your patient record against the state registry before it can sell you anything, so allow extra time or call ahead.
Enough that the appointment is rarely the hard part here. The state's Qualified Physician List covers the whole of Lee County, and the clear majority of the physicians on it practise in Fort Myers itself, well ahead of any other city in the county. The exact figures are printed on our directory page beside the list they describe, because the state republishes that file every Friday and a number typed into a sentence here would be stale within the week. The list is alphabetical: we do not rank physicians and nobody pays to appear on it.
No. Florida requires the first certification to be a physical examination conducted in person by a qualified physician. This is the single most common thing people get wrong, usually because national services advertise an entirely online process that is not available to a first-time Florida patient.
Not on county land. Lee County banned smoking and vaping at the beaches and parks it owns on 17 June 2025, with fines attached. That ordinance covers county property, which is not the same as everywhere. Fort Myers and Fort Myers Beach are separate incorporated governments with their own parks, and we have not read their individual rules, so we are not going to tell you what they say. Separately, state law excludes use in a vehicle, an aircraft or a motorboat from the definition of medical use, which matters more here than in most of Florida.
No. Florida has no reciprocity, so a card from another state buys you nothing at a Fort Myers dispensary. The part most people are not told: you may not need to move here permanently. Florida law recognises a seasonal resident: broadly, someone who lives here at least 31 consecutive days a year, keeps a temporary residence here, returns home once a year and votes or pays income tax elsewhere. A seasonal resident can register with two proof documents instead of a Florida driver's licence.
